Accor will build its first resort under the Mondrian brand in the Duxton Hill area in early 2023.
Mondrian Singapore is a luxury lifestyle resort built by DP Architects and Studio Carter.
The home will consist of a three-story building with attic suites and a modern tower that will house the majority of the resort’s 300 guest rooms, as well as a rooftop bar and pool, as well as a club and restaurant.
Both companies are linked to Robert Kuok, a well-known businessman from Johor Bahru.
“Mondrian Singapore allows guests to stay in the heart of Duxton Hill, a vibrant heritage conservation area surrounded by Michelin-starred restaurants, award-winning pubs, and iconic retail outlets — all within walking distance of the CBD,” Sun You Ning, managing director of Craig Road Property Holdings, explains.
It is one of Accor’s first Mondrian hotels after its purchase of sbe’s hotel brands. Between 2023 and 2022, Accor plans to build seven more Mondrian resorts globally, including the Mondrian Gold Coast in 2023, the Mondrian Shoreditch in 2Q2021, and the Mondrian Bordeaux and Mondrian Cannes in France in 2022.
In November, Accor and Ennismore, a London-based owner and developer, formed a joint venture.
The all-share acquisition may result in the consolidation of a 12-manufacturer portfolio, including Mondrian.
